The latest bladder cancer news states that preservatives nitrate and nitrite, found in processed red meat, can increase the risk of developing bladder cancer. This one is not much of a surprise. The Bladder Cancer Advocacy Network will be hosting events across the country in order to raise awareness about bladder cancer, featuring lectures by physicians specializing in the illness, as well as discussion panels and exhibits. Bladder cancer is the 5th-most commonly diagnosed cancer in the United States. Just last year, 70,000 people were diagnosed with bladder cancer.

Kristoff writes about his recent experience of accidentally discovering a tumor in his right kidney. Dr. Douglas Scherr was the surgeon who successfully performed the surgery to remove the tumor.
