A cancer diagnosis is usually the last thing a 24-year-old expects to hear from her doctor. But according to the National Cancer Institute, more than 72,000 adolescents and young adults (ages 15-39) will hear the words "you have cancer" each year in the United States. Danielle Wilson was one of those young adults.

The Office of Washington Secretary of State, Sam Reed, announced that the 69-year-old has been diagnosed with kidney cancer and will undergo laparoscopic surgery next week at Virginia Mason Medical Center.
Reed's cancer was found after he complained of stomach pains and his doctors conducted tests. Though unrelated to his stomach pain, doctors found a tumor in his kidney.
