In more recent months, and on a positive note, Richards is channeling her celebrity into kidney cancer awareness. She's was even willing to publically embarrass herself by singing at a charity baseball game!
The former Married with Children star was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2008 and made the decision to undergo a double mastectomy. Applegate now uses her fame to increase breast cancer awareness and stresses the importance of regular screenings.
Lance Armstrong tops this list and our list of top cancer survivors. Diagnosed with testicular cancer in 1996, Armstrong went to work right away by forming the Lance Armstrong Foundation. His motto, LIVESTRONG, inspires cancer patients and their families to live life to the fullest. LIVESTRONG provides support, resources, and a community of like-minded people all coming together to beat cancer.
