New White House Online Video Features President Obama Demonstrating the Healthcare.gov Website

This week the White House released a demonstration video for its new healthcare.gov website featuring President Obama pointing and clicking through the sites many features and information portals. The site is a tool that the President says will help you better understand new healthcare laws (such as changes concerning coverage for pre-existing conditions) and take your healthcare into your own hands.

This new consumer resource website launched on July 1 with the goal of informing the American people about the new healthcare reform law or the Affordable Care Act, which passed on March 23, 2010.  Changes will be implemented over the next several years -- through 2014 and beyond.

Some of the website’s features include:

¨                    Information about insurance plans based on location and personal needs

¨                    Information for individuals, small business owners, young adults, and older Americans

¨                    Disease prevention tips

¨                    Real stories from citizens who have already benefited from healthcare reform

Visitors can plug in their personal information and get a list of available insurance plan options. This fall, the website will feature insurance policy price comparisons -- making it easier to comparison shop.
